The excellent light transmission and high impact resistance of SABIC products make it the best choice for military and police single helmets and riot shields. Many helmets and riot shields are made of clear, high-impact LEXAN™ polycarbonate sheet, which allows the user to see projectiles and quickly position the shield for protection.

LEXAN™ and MARGARD™ sheets are often the materials of choice for composite laminates due to their light weight, high impact resistance and high optical properties. Crystal-clear LEXAN sheet is especially good at controlling moiré, light distortion and optical defects. Composite laminates made using MARGARD sheets can absorb ballistic impacts without being punctured. Plus, they won't crumble or crack, making them easy to maintain over time. Either way, these materials protect the building and the property within while reducing the expense of reglazing. They also withstand frequent washing and remove graffiti non-destructively. MARGARD panels will not crumble or break, so the risk of accidental injury during use is greatly reduced when used, for example, as interior partitions and partition doors. MARGARD sheets are ideal for protective screens in stadiums and other outdoor applications such as acoustic screens used to block traffic noise in built-up areas.   

MARGARD™ coated sheet has a variety of unique properties and excellent light transmission, which is a good choice for transparent mechanical shielding. Like all LEXAN™ sheet products, MARGARD coated sheet offers extremely high impact resistance and is very unlikely to break even when subjected to severe impacts from heavy objects. This excellent impact resistance remains unaffected even under large temperature changes (-40°C to +120°C) or prolonged exposure to outdoor environments. MARGARD coated sheet has a unique hardened surface coating which provides a high level of protection from unsightly scratches and is therefore ideal for applications that may be subject to frequent rubbing. It has high chemical resistance to many chemicals such as detergents, paints and adhesives. Its unique surface coating also resists graffiti and can be 'looked like new' with just a little cleaning.
