Rohm to acquire SABIC's PC film and sheet business

The acquisition of SABIC LEXAN™ brand PC film and sheet business is a solid step for ROHM to move towards the horizontal strategic development of global business

ROHM's existing plexiglass brand PLEXIGLAS® sheet will be highly complementary to the merged LEXAN™ brand PC film sheet, which will help ROHM become a global leader in the field of transparent sheet and film

The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2024

SABIC is a global leader in PC film and sheet business, offering a broad and high-quality product portfolio, mainly sold under the world-renowned LEXAN™ brand. The business has an extensive global presence, with production sites strategically located on every continent, operations in 19 countries and approximately 700 employees.

It is expected that the combined sales of this sector will exceed 700 million euros, and it will have 14 production bases around the world. The PC film and sheet business of ROHM and SABIC both provide high-quality sheet and film products, which are widely used in construction, consumer electronics, medicine and aviation industries, and their business activities can effectively complement each other in similar markets. The acquisition is an important cornerstone of Rohm's strategy to develop its semi-finished products business into a leading global multipolymer company. ROHM's existing plexiglass brand PLEXIGLAS® will be highly complementary to the merged LEXAN™ brand PC film sheet.

Negotiations with relevant unions in Europe are expected to be completed in the next few months. Subject to regulatory approvals and the divestiture of the business from SABIC, the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2024.
